Montreal native Autumn Phillips married British Royal Family member Peter Phillips in 2008, five years after they first met. When they first started dating Autumn had no idea Peter was a royal as his mother Princess Anne chose not to give her children official titles. While Autumn and Peter Philips, 41, are less high-profile than Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, their transatlantic love story pre-dates the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Here’s how their extraordinary romance unfolded and how Autumn won Peter’s heart.
Autumn Kelly was born and raised in Montreal, Quebec and studied a Bachelor in East Asian studies at McGill University.
She first met Peter when she was a 25 at the Canadian Grand Prix in 2003 where the pair immediately got on.
Peter was there on behalf of BMW Williams where he worked at the time.

According to those close to Peter, he was smitten at first sight and he and Autumn immediately hit it off.
A friend of Peter’s told the Telegraph: “Peter couldn’t take his eyes of her. Within five minutes he had managed to engage her in conversation.
“He had to go off to do some official business but within half an hour he was back and had managed to get her mobile telephone number, her email address and invite her and three of her friends to the Formula One post race party.
“He certainly wasn’t going to let her disappear.”
After that first meeting Peter has said the rest “was fate.”
Autumn and Peter began dating soon after they met but the royal kept his true identity a secret.
Autumn moved to England for work not long after they first and only found out about his royal connection shortly before she made the move.
In an interview ahead of their wedding Autumn revealed she was watching TV when she spotted Peter.
She spotted the “really gorgeous English guy” with whom she was smitten standing alongside Prince William during his 18th birthday celebrations.
Initially, her mother thought she was mistaken but Autumn was certain and checked her new boyfriend on the internet.
When she convinced her mother that he was, indeed, a member of the Royal family she famously replied: “Oh Autumn, what have you got yourself into.”
Their spectacular royal wedding ceremony took place on May 17, 2008, at St George’s Chapel where both Prince William and Prince Harry took their wedding vows years later.
Do Autumn and Peter have children?
More than a decade later Autumn and Peter have two daughters together - Isla, seven, and Savannah, eight.
Autumn, 41, recently delighted royal fans as she joined the Queen at this year's Highland Games near Balmoral.
