Meghan Markle and Prince Harry may be the “wokest” royals around but they are not everyone’s favourite dinner guests. The Duchess’s disregard for stuffy British traditions has seen the couple shunned from elite circles, The Mail on Sunday reported. The besotted Duke and Duchess often choose to sit together at dinners despite seating plans and Meghan purposefully seeks to break “exclusive” party etiquette, the paper claimed.
The loved-up pair are not embarrassed about showing affection for one another in public.
However, their PDA at parties has reportedly prompted Harry’s pals to “roll their eyes” at Meghan’s “American ways”.
Meghan and Harry’s disregard for traditional “placement” dinner etiquette that mean couples should sit apart, has prompted friends to stop inviting them to dinner, sources claimed.
Meghan Markle snub: Why have friends have stopped inviting Meghan and Harry to dinner?
The Duchess is no stranger to bending the rules and has previously made her disdain for outdated customs clear.
Meghan ruffled royal feathers when she threw a lavish baby shower in New York last February.
Baby showers - an American custom - are not a royal tradition, but modern Meghan is not afraid to do things her own way.
Meghan raised eyebrows again early this summer when she broke the dress code at Wimbledon tennis tournament.
The laid-back Duchess wore jeans in the private members enclosure, a move many consider a fashion faux pas.
While traditionalists may be upset by some of the Duchess’s progressive ways, others have praised her approach.
Her decision to guest-edit an issue of British Vogue rather than appear on its front cover was another key example of Meghan doing things differently.
She used the issue to champion 15 women she considered “Forces for Change”, who all appeared on the front cover.
The issue contains an interview between the Duchess and former US First Lady, Michelle Obama as well as a conversation between Prince Harry and primatologist Dr Jane Goodall.
Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage has become the latest public figure to lambast the Duchess after a shocking speech he made in Australia came to light.
At the Conservative Political Action Conference in Sydney, Mr Farage was recorded criticising Prince Harry, the Queen Mother and Meghan.
Mr Farage said: “Here was Harry, here he was this young, brave, boisterous, all male, getting into trouble, turning up at stag parties inappropriately dressed, drinking too much and causing all sorts of mayhem.
“And then, a brave British officer who did his bit in Afghanistan.
“He was the most popular royal of a younger generation that we’ve seen for 100 years.
“And then he met Meghan Markle, and it’s fallen off a cliff.
“We’ve been told in the last week that Meghan and Harry will only have two children.
“And we’re all completely ignoring, the real problem the Earth faces, and that is the fact the population of the globe is exploding but no one dares talk about it, no one dares deal with it, and whether Prince Harry has two kids is irrelevant given there are now 2.6 billion Chinese and Indians on this Earth.”
