Three Mobile app update
Three Mobile is making a big change to its app that will finally end a major irritation with this popular service.
Until now, anyone wanting to log into the smartphone application needed to be connected to the firm's 3G and 4G signal.
This means if you're at home and want to see how much data or minutes you have left you'll need switch off your Wi-Fi signal to gain access.
The app also allows users to manage their bills, sort upgrades and control their spending which would all be easier to check at times when you are most likely to be switched onto your broadband.
Now it seems Three is changing this annoying feature with users soon able to access the app no matter how they are connected to the web.
In a message sent out to customers, the network said: "In the coming weeks we're going to start rolling out a new update that will allow you to manage your account whilst connected to a Wi-Fi network. About time, am I right?"
To help keep you secure out there, the update will require you to login with your My3 account details.
"Wi-Fi has always had a larger presence in your feedback, and it's honestly something we've been wanting to do for a while, but it required some very delicate planning on our side.
"So thanks for being patient with us."
Three isn't giving any more details but expect the change to arrive on your device soon.
The news of this update comes as Three is about to unleash its 5G service on UK customers.
This superfast upgrade is being switched on this month with the firm stating its technology will be at least two times faster - at peak times - than any other UK provider.
Three says that it will begin by releasing its 5G signal in homes in a bid to shake up the fixed-line broadband market.
This home internet service will then be followed by a full mobile rollout with customers able to access these new faster 5G speeds when away from their living rooms.
Along with speeding this up, there's also more good news as Three has confirmed that its users won’t be forced to pay any extra to access this service and downloads will also stay fully unrestricted.
Three is boasting that new and existing customers will have access to 5G with no speed caps and at no extra cost on all contract, SIM-only and PAYG mobile plans.
“Three is leading the way with 5G, by providing our customers with unlimited data and the fastest speeds,” said Dave Dyson, CEO at Three
“Our customers will be able to enjoy and explore a full 5G experience, at the same cost as 4G.”
